Press Release for the publication of the book:
"Hotel Angela - A Story of Love and a Great Friendship"
Silvano Adami, an author already well-known to the Aletti publishing community, continues to write with a pen imbued with values, love, sharing, and friendship. He returns to bookstores with his latest work, "Hotel Angela," published in the "I Diamanti della Narrativa" series. Following his audiobook about solidarity in the aftermath of an earthquake, this new story unfolds over a period of approximately seventy years, spanning the period from World War II to the early 2000s. It's the grandfather who tells his grandchildren—sitting on a bench in the square, in front of the large building that still bears the Hotel Angela sign—the story of this hotel, a story of great love and a deep friendship that have endured over time and have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who experienced it and remember it. Although it takes place between Florence and Prato, the streets and places mentioned are not found in these cities. "This plot," explains the author, originally from Modigliana (Forlì-Cesena) but who lives in Florence, "could be real, and perhaps someone reading it might see something of their own life in it. It's fiction in that the characters and some places are fictional, but the events could very well be true. Just as history unfolds in a precise, real time frame, fantasy is inextricably intertwined with reality.
Unlike other stories or books, this work spans the entire life of the characters, with their joys and sorrows. It is the story of a grandfather who, rereading his father's diary to his grandchildren, relives those moments like a long film unfolding before his eyes, making those who listen understand how beautiful and fulfilling true love and true friendship are. For Silvano Adami, memories permeate the present and his entire existence, becoming inspiration for his writing. In all his writings, in fact, traces of his past can be found, both happy and sad. "Memories are life; if they are lost, we have lost ourselves."
This is how her works are born, like a daydream during nights spent half asleep, when traces of stories or poems come to mind that don't vanish upon awakening, but rather are imprinted first in the mind and then, black on white, take shape through the pen. "I would like those who read my works to fully understand the value of Love (with a capital L), of true friendship that doesn't ask for anything in return, of sharing, even if the person next to you isn't willing to share. I know that in today's world, all of this is very difficult, suffocated by the frenzy of life and the intensive use of media and technology."
"Hotel Angela" is a grandfather's story to his grandchildren, but above all, it is an empathetic relationship between writer and reader, because the most authentic values are universal and are passed down from generation to generation, becoming immortal through memory, but also through writing.
